• Getting a B Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group — Auburn Community Hospital in November 2025 announced it had earned a B hospital safety grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit watchdog focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an A, B, C, D or F grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries and infections. “This meaningful achievement is a direct reflection of Auburn Community Hospital’s commitment to our community. The hospital’s board of trustees, leadership and staff continue to put patient safety at the forefront of our work. Delivering high-quality, low-cost care to our friends and neighbors is our primary mission. I am proud of our staff who provide outstanding care to every patient, every day.” said Scott Berlucchi, president & CEO.
• Largest Financial Gift — Brothers Dave and Doug Wayne, who founded D&W Diesel in Auburn in 1976, have matched the largest financial gift in the history of Auburn Community Hospital: a $1 million donation. “We sold our business. Our family wanted to give back to our hometown. We are blessed to be in a position to give back significantly to a community we care deeply about,” said Dave Wayne. “As a family, we did our homework. We thoroughly reviewed multiple charities and agencies across Cayuga County. After completing our due diligence, we felt strongly that the best way to support our community was to make a donation to Auburn Community Hospital,” added Doug Wayne.
• New Chief of OB-GYN — Physician Migdalia Bonilla-Martir was appointed as ACH’s new chief of obstetrics and gynecology. She joined at the end of 2025 from Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, part of Nuvance Health.
