• CEO Named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2025 “Community Hospital CEOs to Know” List — Oneida Health CEO Felissa Koernig was recognized in Becker’s Hospital Review’s prestigious 2025 “Community Hospital CEOs to Know” list. This honor highlights her commitment to transforming healthcare within the community and acknowledges her exceptional leadership in her role, which she has held since September 2023. With over 15 years of strategic and operational management experience, Koernig has demonstrated unwavering dedication to improving patient care and healthcare services, according to a news release. Prior to her position at Oneida Health, she excelled as president of Guthrie Corning Hospital, a 65-bed facility in New York. Koernig made history upon her appointment as the first female CEO in the 125-year history of Oneida Health, breaking barriers and serving as a role model for future generations of healthcare leaders. Her vision for the hospital emphasizes local engagement, strategic expansion of services, and the enhancement of healthcare facilities to better serve the community.
• Oneida joins Upstate Telestroke Network — Oneida Health Hospital became a member of the Telestroke Network at Upstate University Hospital’s Comprehensive Stroke Center in Syracuse. Through its Telestroke Network, Upstate University Hospital can connect its stroke specialists with the medical staff at Oneida Health Hospital—some 30 miles east of Syracuse—to aid in the assessment and care of patients at the Oneida facility who may be experiencing a stroke. When a patient arrives at the emergency department at Oneida Health Hospital with symptoms concerning for stroke, Oneida Health Hospital staff can now consult with an Upstate stroke specialist. Within minutes an established televideo conference connection allows stroke specialists to view the CT brain scan, examine the patient and talk with patients, families and physicians about early intervention and facilitating care, both are crucial steps in improving outcomes for patients suffering a stroke.
• Oneida Pediatric Group, with offices in Oneida and Camden, became part of Oneida Health network. On Nov. 1, physician Kinkee Chung’s Rome-based pediatric office also joined the network. This strategic move strengthens pediatric services across Madison and Oneida counties, ensuring continuity of care under the larger Oneida Health umbrella.
• Oneida Radiation Oncology partnered with Hematology Oncology Associates of CNY to provide radiation services to cancer patients in Oneida and the broader Central New York region. This collaboration ensures that treatment is delivered by a dedicated team of radiation oncologists from Hematology Oncology Associates of CNY, offering advanced, nationally aligned care close to home.
• As of 2025, all Oneida Health primary care offices are offering in-office social work service to address behavioral health needs of our patients.
• Oneida Health opened a general surgery practice on the main campus located in Oneida. This multi-surgeon practice offers general surgery to patients in CNY.
