Alcoholics Anonymous is an international fellowship of people open to anyone who wants to do something about their drinking problem. The website offers links to meeting places and times seven days a week throughout Central New York, and the service center is open for in-person contact from 8:30 a.m. to 4:40 p.m., Monday and Thursday; and 8:30 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The program, affiliated with Crouse Health, offers inpatient and outpatient services for individuals with chemical dependencies. An experienced health-care team that includes counselors, nurses, psychiatrists and other physician specialists, runs the program. Self-referrals are welcome. Sliding fees and most insurance plans are accepted.

ConnextCare provides compassionate, evidence-based care for individuals and families affected by substance use disorders. With more than five decades of service to the Oswego County community, ConnextCare’s integrated model ensures patients receive both medical and behavioral support in a respectful, judgment-free environment. The substance use disorder services team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and an RN care manager, who offer assessment, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), counseling, relapse prevention, and coordinated care with mental health and primary care providers. Services are available at ConnextCare’s locations in Pulaski, Fulton, Mexico and Oswego.

Helio Health is a comprehensive substance use disorders and mental health disorders services provider. Among its many programs are drug and alcohol withdrawal and stabilization services, detoxification, inpatient rehabilitation, child and adolescent services and problem gambling counseling, opioid treatment program, as well as counseling for mental health disorders such as depression. It also provides outreach services, community residences, training institute, peer support and engagement, and a crisis center.

N.A. is a nonprofit fellowship or society of men and women for whom drugs had become a major problem. Recovering addicts meet regularly to help each other stay clean. The Substance Use Initiatives program offers free naloxone training and distribution for the community. Naloxone is a medication that can be administered to individuals who experience an opioid/heroin overdose, to prevent it from being fatal. The program also provides outreach and education, linkages to care, fentanyl test strips, and secondary syringe exchange services. Other initiatives include peer support services and real-time overdose response.

The chemical dependence program is a residential program consisting of the Arbor House community residence and the supportive living program.

• Arbor House is a supervised community residence provides a supervised, safe and substance-free environment for up to sixteen adults in a rural home-like setting a few miles outside the City of Oswego with 24/7 staffing, where they can work on skills to maintain their sobriety while transitioning back into the community.

• Chemical dependence supportive living apartments provides support assistance and guidance for up to twelve adults residing in six apartments located in a large apartment complex near the City of Oswego who have maintained their sobriety and are ready to transition into the community.

Ready2RecoverCNY (R2RCNY) is an all-volunteer CNY nonprofit that helps fund long-term inpatient opioid use disorder treatment for qualified CNY adults who have tried outpatient and short-term inpatient options and have been unsuccessful, and who do not have the insurance or financial resources to pay for long-term treatment. Its mission is to save lives, one at a time. It provides a unique path for recovery that no other organization in our area provides. In addition, R2RCNY provides information and support to families with addicted loved ones, including guidance on where to turn for help and how to cope.
