New Hope Family Services is a resource for unplanned pregnancy, parenting, and adoption support. It is a private, voluntary, nonprofit corporation authorized by the New York State Department of Social Services to provide adoption, foster care, and related counseling services. It provides adoption services throughout New York State, with the exception of the five boroughs of New York City and Long Island. Services include pregnancy tests; limited ultrasounds; abortion, adoption and parenting information; adoption services; prenatal and parenting education; baby items; abortion recovery support; miscarriage and infant loss support; medical, social service and community referrals.

OCFS is responsible for programs and services involving foster care, adoption and adoption assistance, child protective services including operating the Statewide Central Register for Child Abuse and Maltreatment, preventive services for children and families, services for pregnant adolescents, and protective programs for vulnerable adults.

The adoption unit arranges placements of children waiting to be adopted in appropriate homes. It provides support and guidance to the children and the adoptive parents until the adoption is finalized.
