The Healthy Neighborhoods Program seeks to reduce the burden of housing related illness and injury through a holistic healthy homes approach. Residents of the City of Syracuse can request a free home safety check for indoor air quality, lead, smoke/fire hazards, slip/trip/fall prevention, pest control, and asthma education. Included in the safety check are free supplies, which may include cleaning supplies, carbon monoxide detectors, smoke detectors, and more.

The Radon Program provides information and guidance on radon testing and mitigation. Radon test kits are available on a limited basis.

The Residential Environmental Health program conducts health and safety inspections at mobile home parks and childcare centers and investigates complaints regarding public health nuisances and hazards.
