St. Joseph’s Expands Partnership with the Roswell Park Care Network

St. Joseph’s Health announced the launch of its new thoracic surgery service line, marking an important expansion of its cancer care affiliation with Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo. The thoracic program begins with the addition of two thoracic surgeons, bringing advanced surgical options to patients in Central New York: David W. Wormuth and Michael Parish.

This thoracic program expands access to expert care for patients with lung disease and chest-related cancers, while reinforcing St. Joseph’s Heath commitment to bringing comprehensive surgical services close to home, according to a hospital press release..

In addition, St. Joseph’s Health also welcomes medical oncologist Najam Ud Din, further strengthening its medical oncology service line and its collaboration with Roswell Park’s nationally recognized oncology expertise.

As a member of the Roswell Park Care Network, St. Joseph Health’s offers patients the benefit of advanced therapies, personalized treatment plans and access to clinical trials for a wide range of cancers, including breast, colorectal, lung, gastrointestinal and blood cancers such as leukemia and lymphoma. The Roswell Park Care Network — extending across New York and Northwest Pennsylvania — improves the reach and impact of quality cancer care offered by Roswell Park, the only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center in Upstate New York.

“We are thrilled to expand the cancer care services at St. Joseph’s Health with the addition of three well-respected physicians in this field,” said physician Sai Yendamuri, chief strategy officer and chairman of thoracic surgery at Roswell Park Comprehensive Center, who leads the growth and development of community cancer services across New York state through his leadership role in the statewide Roswell Park Care Network. “Through their expertise in medical oncology and thoracic surgery, we are able to provide additional treatment options tailored to the needs of patients in Syracuse and Central New York. Collaborating with a dedicated partner like St. Joseph’s Health allows the Roswell Park Care Network to provide timely, world-class cancer care to more families.”
